Youth Opportunities: How to register

  1. Contact the local Case Manager in your area and book an appointment for an assessment; in Brampton contact the Brampton Employment Assessment Centre, VPI and in Mississauga contact Youth Community Connections Mississauga, YCCM.

  2. To register with Youth Opportunities, you must have a Return to Work Action Plan (RTWAP); this will be provided to you by your local Case Manager.

  3. Once you have a RTWAP drop in or call Youth Opportunities:
    Mississauga: 905-949-0049 ext. 2405
    Brampton: 905-457-4747 ext. 3230

What does a local Case Manager do?

Youth will need to see a local case manager in order to be assessed and to develop an employment action plan that will help them to secure the fastest route to employment.

The assessment will focus on the following four dimensions:

  1. Career Decision Making
  2. Skills Enhancement
  3. Job Search
  4. Job Maintenance

Based on the above, youth will be referred to appropriate community interventions to assist them to gain employment (or return to school).

Following the assessment, youth will be case managed by YCCM until completion of their employment action plan (which is normally the completion of the intervention that they are referred to). YCCM will follow up with the youth periodically throughout the process and will close the file with a follow up within 12 weeks of the completion of the intervention. The follow-up will determine if the youth was successful in securing employment or returning to school.
